Once again, Carroll residents are up in arms about yet another attempt by the Carroll County Government to find new sources of revenue (taxes) in the county. The latest installment is the new "Pathways Plan". The name conjures up images of lush green fields in a sea of perfect blue skies dotted with fluffy clouds. But in reality, it may be a thinly disguised attempt to rezone those lush green fields into industrial or commercial zoning. We are currently reading through the "pretty words" on a "pretty website" and beginning to understand some of it.
Maybe it's a good plan, maybe not, but we are wary of any plan that in the end is designed to give the county more revenue (taxes). Make no mistake, county residents are the ones that one way or another will be paying those new taxes.
Here's a thought for the county government, How about cutting back on your spending? While the rest of us, "The Great Unwashed" have to cut back on spending, grow our own food, and borrow money to pay the outrageous yearly tax assessment on our homes, government never seems to cut back. And every time they are getting beat up over the inflated budget, government threatens with cutbacks on "essential services" to scare residents into complacency. "People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people." - (quote by Alan Moore)
If you are interested in being "educated" about the Pathways Plan, here is the link to the website. I wonder what the website to "educate" the public, cost the taxpayers?
